The 51st Annual Meeting of the Color Science Association of Japan 2020


The 51st Annual Meeting of the Color Science Association of Japan 2020 “Color Pod” [Kyoto] ’20 was held online from 27-28 June, 2020. Color and Communication Design Laboratory participated at the Open Color Lab to introduce the lab.
Shota Matsuyama made a presentation on ‘A Survey of Color and Sound Associations Using the App “mupic”’.

2020/6/27(土)- 28(日)一般社団法人日本色彩学会主催で第51回全国大会 カラーポッド[京都]’20がオンライン開催されました。色彩・コミュニケーションデザイン研究室の紹介をオープンカラーラボで行いました。また、日髙研の松山聖太が『アプリ「mupic」を使用した色彩と音の連想に関する調査』を学会発表しました。

Due to coronavirus (Covid-19), all classes in the first semester will be online. The classes are done in the following way. Students need to register all attendance records using Scomb.

第2回デジタルアートx照明 国際シンポジウム・ワークショップ–イルミネート

16-19 November 2019, the Second Digital Art x Lighting Symposium and Workshop was held by Assumption University. Assumption University, Thailand: Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan: and Hong Bang International University, Vietnam jointly created digital art themed: Illuminate in the ex-theatre called Lido Connect in Siam Square, central Bangkok. The students represented 10 different countries.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum


I have visited to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum this morning. Notably, its description of the Nuclear Bomb experiences were characterized by many color terms.

Such as, blackish red-orange, grey, black rain or purple spots. Nonetheless our memories of visual information tend to be composed of color, each color represented pain.



Replaying Japan 2019

On 9 August, I have done oral presentation at Replaying Japan 2019 held by Ritsumeikan Center for Game Studies in Kyoto. The presentation title was ‘A Study of Card Game to Increase the Vocabulary of Japanese Traditional Color’ (sponsored by the grant of HAYAO NAKAYAMA Foundation for Science & Technology and Culture)

京都・立命館大学ゲーム研究センター主催のReplaying Japan 2019で8月9日に発表しました。発表題目は、「日本の伝統的色彩語彙を増やすカードゲームの研究」(中山隼雄科学技術文化財団助成研究)

Arts and Tech at Shibaura Senior High School


On 31 May, I went to Shibaura Senior High School in Shin-Toyosu to give a visiting lecture called Arts and Tech. My topic was ‘Primary Color Theory — Visual Illusion, Op Art and Digital Art’.
